One Bea to Rule Them All- Yes Greansboro Reelly Can Speall!

HypePipe's Third Ever Citywide Spelling Bea Arthur was a SMASHING success. By our own standards. Which are fuzzy and changeable. (like a pair of chaps!)

Nonetheless, last night's Bea was special because 1) Patrick had returned from France and 2) the spellers and spectators were so into the spelling of words, we think we witnessed a rebirth of both SMARTNESS and PAGEANTRY that will sustain us until the 2008 Summer Games.

The hosts, foolish as ever, dressed monochromatically. We were Patrick the Grey, Erica the White, and Cedric the Black. We're not sure how it went over, we just love a THEME.

Hillary had a birthday!

Everyone put on a Happy Face for the Spelling Bea (Arthur!).

When all was said and done, we EVEN HAD PRIZES!

Burt's Bees for the tired lips of our spellers...

Honey for Theresa, our SWEET two-time runner up...

And BOOZE for Anna, the current reigning Word Champion!

Patrick awarded the grand prize, a gift certificate to the Flat Iron.

for going out, drinkin' and spellin' and a hero to the citizens of Greensboro!
