Old People JUST CAN'T STOP Saving the Wolrd!

Sir Richard Branson, taking time off from ballooning around the world and swan diving into his money bin, has started up a club for old people to SAVE THE WORLD! It's called "The Elders" and includes our favorite living (cause Anna Nicole is dead) saint, Nelson Mandela. (We like the name, but was Team Aspercreme already taken?) Like a Plastic Ono Band of old people, "The Elders" will stamp out poverty, cure AIDS, and free the circus elephants. In between naps, of course.
Nicole Richie, Britney, Paris, Lindsay Lohan = 0
Old People = 2,309,868 and counting!

Perhaps the world needs a group like this to offer solutions to problems. Had you thought of that. I personally don't care for some members of the group, but then that is okay too. They are as the founder says a group of individuals who have nothing to gain or lose, and that being the case they can feel free to speak freely. I understand that feeling because being over the hill myself and obligated to no one and certainly no longer having to set an example I feel free to spout off as much and as loud as I want. I use my own name on my blog and call it as I see it. Being older I believe I can often lend some perspective to a problem or situation that younger people either are not aware of, or do not see a connection to the present problem.
At any rate, this advice is free so what is the harm and perhaps there will be some benefit.
There is also one more motivation that I am ashamed of but must 'fess up to anyhow: we old people helped create most of the problems we have today. We did this when we were young and eager to save the world and very foolish as often young crudaders are. We hope that in some way now that we have been able to look back and see where we went wrong we can help the new generation not to make our mistakes. And not to worry; if we can keep you from making the same mistakes we made there will be plenty of new ones for you to make all on your own so you won't be cheated of someday coming into your own time of being an Elder. YES- WE AGREE! we think richard branson's concept and execution of old people saving the world is both brilliant and awesome. we just wish he'd invited maya angelou. (AND WE LOVE NAPS TOO! WE CAN'T WAIT TO GET OLD!)
I can tell you one thing. Getting old is not for sissies. Old people have to be tough and willing to put up with lots of pain, both mental and physical.
I'm off to rest.
